Parent questions

The questions we hear most on school visits. Tap a slip and the answer opens on the card.

Registration & visits

Is pre-registration final?

No. The pre-registration form is a request to meet and there is no fee. After you send it we call you and arrange a school visit. Final registration happens at school after the visit, with a contract and documents.

At what age can children start Year 1?

Under Ministry of National Education rules, children who are 69 months old by the end of September are enrolled in Year 1; children aged 66–68 months can start at the parent's request. We share the exact dates each year according to the Ministry's registration calendar.

How long is a school visit, can I bring my child?

A visit takes about 45 minutes and happens while lessons are on. We would like you to bring your child; if they want, they can stay in class for half a day.

Can a child transfer from another school mid-year?

Yes, if there is a free place in the class. Transfers are done through e-Okul; we recommend coming for a school visit first to meet the teachers.

A day at school

What time does school start and finish?

The door opens at 08:20, lessons start at 08:40 and finish at 15:20. Pupils who want can stay for study hour and clubs until 17:00.

How do two teachers work in one class?

The class teacher and co-teacher plan lessons together. While one leads the group, the other can work with a small group or a single child. Homework follow-up and parent meetings are shared between them too.

Is there a school uniform?

No. Children come in comfortable everyday clothes that can get dirty. Aprons for workshops are kept at school; each child keeps a pair of rubber boots at school for the garden.

How will I know what my child did during the day?

Every Friday the class teacher sends a short note on the week and a few photos to the parent group. Project weeks are also published on the Projects page. Children's faces are never shared without parental permission.

Learning & assessment

Does project-based learning replace the national curriculum?

No. The Ministry of National Education primary curriculum is followed in full; projects bring its outcomes together around one question. Turkish and maths are also taught daily in their own lessons.

Do you give homework?

In Years 1 and 2 there is no homework apart from 20 minutes' reading each evening. In Years 3 and 4 a weekly study plan of up to two hours is set. Project work is done at school; apart from bringing materials, families do not have to do it.

How are reports and assessment done?

Reports are issued according to Ministry rules. In addition, at the end of each term teachers write an observation-based progress report for each child and meet the parents in person.

Fees, lunch & bus

What is included in the fees?

Tuition includes stationery and workshop materials. Meals, the bus and study hour are separate items. All amounts are shown VAT included on the Fees page; no extra charges are added during the year.

Where are meals cooked, and what about allergies?

Meals are cooked in the school's own kitchen that morning; our dietitian plans the menu. For allergies reported with a doctor's note at final registration, a separate plate is prepared. Please do not write allergy details in the forms on the site; we collect them at school.

Which areas does the school bus serve?

We currently have four routes: Özlüce–Ataevler, Görükle–Kayapa, İhsaniye–Konak and Balat–Karaman. Type your neighbourhood into the search box on the bus page to see which route stops there; we add stops on request.
